Sarah Scheckter, Ph.D. PLLC is a licensed psychologist who earned her doctorate in Clinical Developmental Psychology from Bryn Mawr College. She completed her internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. She has enjoyed working in a variety of settings, including public schools, community mental health, inpatient psychiatry, a cancer center, college counseling, and academic medical settings, including as a psychiatry faculty member at the University of Missouri School of Medicine.
Dr. Scheckter is devoted to working with adults of all ages. Her approach to psychotherapy is insight-oriented and focuses on building a trusting therapeutic relationship that fosters growth and healing; this process often begins with cultivating compassion and curiosity. She collaborates with each client to tailor therapy to their unique personality, strengths, and worldview.
Dr. Scheckter’s specialty areas include anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, grief and loss, trauma, caregiver stress, adjustment to medical problems, and navigating life transitions (for example, education, career, identity development, family role changes, and retirement).
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Scheckter is currently offering telehealth sessions.
